One Decision

One Decision

Built on the authority of former MI6 and CIA chiefs — grown into a multi-format platform reaching tens of millions a month, designed, built, and run end-to-end by one team.

2023

Global

Expertise forged at the highest levels of global intelligence doesn't command an audience by accident. It required a platform engineered to carry its full weight.

CHALLENGE

One Decision had something most media brands never earn: genuine authority, hosted by former MI6 chief Sir Richard Dearlove, former CIA director Leon Panetta, and former UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, with political editor Kate McCann and guests including Boris Johnson (his first podcast interview), United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, John Bolton, Robert Gates, and Mary Robinson. To scale its reach and influence, One Decision needed a full multi-format platform and an operation that could feed it every day — without diluting the caliber that made it worth listening to.

SITUATION

Geopolitical media is having a moment: institutional trust is falling, audiences form their worldviews on-platform, and the “TikTokification” of news rewards brands that show up natively and constantly. A weekly podcast, however authoritative, captures almost none of that surface area. One Decision had exactly the credibility the moment demanded, but not the footprint to claim it. Scaling a brand built on the personal authority of former intelligence chiefs is a different problem from scaling an ordinary publisher: volume can never come at the cost of caliber, and coverage of sensitive subjects has to stay accurate and serious. One Decision also didn't have the platform or the daily operating capacity in-house — so the work was to build both and run them, without the brand losing the voice that was its entire value.

SCALING ARCHITECTURE

We joined as the Architects in 2023 and built the brand a platform to match its voice. By the end of that year, One Decision had moved from podcast-only to a mobile-first, feed-centric ecosystem — shorts, video, live coverage, long-form articles, polls, and the podcast in one multi-modal experience designed for how audiences actually consume. We architected it on Gjirafa's media stack — Codex (headless CMS), VP Player (video and streaming), Porta (identity), Bisko (data), Tonos (subscriptions), an ad-serving layer, and Captain (cloud) — with live coverage wired through the Reuters API. The pieces were built to compound: Codex serves every format from one content spine, Bisko's first-party data feeds editorial precision, and the result is a flywheel — credible content drives distribution, distribution returns data, and that data sharpens what gets published next. Scale came from the production model, not just the platform. Every episode is engineered as a seed, not a single asset — transcribed, tagged by topic, and repurposed across the feed — so one piece of authority performs everywhere without multiplying cost, matched to the demand and search behavior already moving each market. Then we ran it. The team that designed the system operates the daily engine behind it — editorial, podcast production and transcription, research and live coverage, newsletter, SEO, paid media, social media, and YouTube — so the platform stays fed and the voice stays consistent, with no handoff and no context lost between what was designed and what runs. In 2025 we rebranded and modernized it: a new website and an extended operating system, taking the brand to its next stage on the same foundation rather than starting over.

KEY INSIGHT

Credibility is global; attention is local. A trusted voice scales across borders only when global insight meets each market at its own cadence and on its own terms localized in relevance, not just translated.

SELECTED CAPABILITIES

Event Livestream Campaigns

Multi-channel live broadcasts (e.g. the 2025 NATO Summit at The Hague) run as staged campaigns.

Rebrand & Platform Modernization (2025)

A new website and extended operating system built on the same foundation.

Daily Content Engine

A full operation across editorial, podcast, newsletter, SEO, paid media, social, and YouTube, run by the team that built the platform.

Live Coverage (Reuters API)

Real-time coverage of major events and summits wired into the platform.

Architecture on Giraffa's Stack

Structure designed across Codex (CMS), VP Player, Porta, Bisko, Tonos, ad-serving, and Captain cloud, integrated into one operation.

Multi-Format Media Platform

A mobile-first, feed-centric ecosystem unifying podcast, video, shorts, live coverage, long-form articles, and polls.

OUTCOME

From a single podcast to a multi-format media platform reaching tens of millions a month — built and run by one team.

The brief was to scale the brand's support, including a platform it did not yet have — and the result is a full media operation that matches its voice: a platform carrying every format, fed daily by the team that built it, and modernized in 2025 without starting over. One Decision deliberately never gated its content behind a paywall; reach and influence, not subscription revenue, were the point, and the authority held as the footprint grew, with coverage still cited across the Guardian, Newsweek, POLITICO, and The Hill. For Evonomix, the engagement proved the plan→build→operate model end-to-end: the same team carried the brand from architecture through years of live operation with zero handoff and no context lost.
