Intrigue

Intrigue's daily geopolitics newsletter had genuine authority — and almost no presence outside the inbox. A multi-platform media engine expanded its reach without adding editorial overhead, growing the subscriber base by 25% in six months.

2025

Global

The inbox is the smallest room your audience ever sees you in. Intrigue had the authority to fill much bigger ones.

CHALLENGE

Intrigue's flagship product had a dedicated readership and a voice that could not be replicated — former diplomats writing daily on geopolitics with real access and real credibility. The challenge was growth without compromise: reach younger audiences on platforms where the format and pace are completely different, without diluting what made the newsletter worth subscribing to, and without creating editorial demand the team had no capacity to absorb.

SITUATION

Producing genuinely platform-native content for every channel, every day — derived from dense newsletter analysis while staying creative and useful — is a production problem most editorial teams cannot sustain at scale. The readers Intrigue most wanted, younger audiences forming their views on world events, gathered on platforms with formats the brand had never produced for. Reaching them meant publishing every day, across every channel, drawn from dense analysis while holding to exacting editorial standards on sensitive subjects. Intrigue's opportunity was to widen its top of funnel with owned, organic reach, so subscriber growth could come from its own audience rather than from ever-rising ad spend.

SCALING ARCHITECTURE

The structural decision was explicit: we were not building a newsroom, we were building a distribution engine. The newsletter remained the flagship product; we reproduced its lens — its unique analytical voice — and mirrored it faithfully across platforms, without allowing production to be constrained by the newsletter's content cycle. Automated newscycle monitoring, layered strategic positioning, multi-platform content production and orchestration, in-house production support. An increasingly self-sustaining media engine that captures attention where it lives and funnels it back to the flagship. The architecture ran as a loop, not a broadcast: polls, replies, and audience signals fed back into what got made next, so the engine sharpened the more it ran.

KEY INSIGHT

True reader loyalty in a crowded information market comes from absolute clarity. Packaging dense global politics into a witty, hyper-readable daily briefing eliminates news fatigue and turns complex world events into an indispensable morning habit.

SELECTED CAPABILITIES

Multi-Format Content Pipeline

Each newsletter turned into video, audio bites, statics, carousels, and LinkedIn thought-leadership, from one source of voice.

Multi-Platform Orchestration

Daily native content sequenced across seven platforms, each post built for its channel, not cross-posted.

Real-Time News Monitoring

Hourly monitoring to react to events as they break, often ahead of the newsletter cycle.

Tiered Content Strategy

Fast reactive formats and memes for cultural momentum; high-signal breakdowns for trust and authority.

Paid Amplification

A paid advertising ecosystem extending organic reach and accelerating audience growth.

Automation & Production Systems

Automation maps (e.g. auto-DMs on engagement) plus a client-side event-content and video-reel pipeline.

OUTCOME

From inbox-only to a subscriber base growing 25% in six months — acquired more cheaply than before.

The distribution engine put Intrigue's analysis in front of new audiences every day, on the platforms where they already gathered, and turned that attention into paying subscribers at a lower cost than before. Each month, Intrigue got, on average, more than 5000 new subscribers — the upper performance bound for publishers in their scaling stage. The voice held: the diplomats' lens, reproduced faithfully enough that sensitive coverage rarely needed correction — so growth and authority rose together. The work drove organic resharing by top brands and built durable internal capability, repositioning Intrigue from a publisher to a media engine.
